PhD Students

Aman Ahluwalia Cameron, M.S.W. 

Aman is a registered social worker and PhD candidate in Social Work at the University of Windsor. Aman has extensive experience providing social services to women affected by trauma in the inpatient and community mental health settings. Aman was a member of the Emotion Change lab from 2006-2009 while she earned her B.A. honours in psychology from the University of Windsor. During her time in the lab she gained both clinical and research skills which prepared her to complete her Master's in Social Work at the University of Toronto. She returned to the lab in 2014 when she commenced her PhD and has worked on various projects since. 

 

Michael Strating, M.A.

Mike StratingMike is currently a second year PhD student in the Adult Clinical Psychology program. His research interests are in the areas of psychotherapy process-outcome, emotional awareness, emotion change processes, interpersonal and existential needs in therapy, and resilience. In 2016, Mike completed his MA thesis entitled Alexithymia and Expressive Writing: Emotional Awareness in Working Through Distress. His thesis was presented at the Society for Psychotherapy Research conference in 2017 where he was awarded the Lester Luborsky Student Poster Award. Mike’s professional goals are to work in private practice while developing Christian theories and interventions in psychology and mental health. Mike is lovingly supported by his wife and two children.

Tsubasa Sawashima, M.A.Tsubasa Sawashima

Subie is a third year student in the Adult Clinical Psychology program. She completed her Master's thesis exploring psychological benefits of expressive writing, and is excited to undertake her Ph.D. dissertation at the Emotion Change Lab. Her research interests are in the areas of adult emotional development and post-trauma emotional reactions.

Orrin-Porter Morrison, M.A.

Orrin-Porter MorrisonOrrin-Porter is currently in the Adult Clinical Psychology doctoral program. He has worked in the emotional lab on several projects, beginning in the Fall of 2010 and was the lab manager for the emotional processing in the expressive writing paradigm. For both undergraduate and master theses, he examined processes individuals experience while writing about trauma. His dissertation focuses on understanding why rapid improvements of symptoms occur for some individuals attending psychotherapy. He has coauthored a handbook on English Grammar and essay development, for which was awarded the Celebration of Teaching Excellence Award (2012). In addition, he has co-authored articles related to clients’ processes in session and regarding working with victims of human trafficking. His goal is to establish a private practice while also continuing to contributing to process research.

Christopher Edmondstone, M.A. 

Chris is a doctoral candidate in the University of Windsor’s Clinical Psychology program – adult track. He is currently completing his doctoral research in the Emotion Change Lab. Chris’s dissertation project involves studying the training and development of psychotherapists as well as psychotherapist effects. Beyond these topics, Chris is interested in the emotion change process of psychotherapy, the impact and course of emotion-focused interventions, and the measurement of psychotherapy outcomes.

In Chris’s clinical training, he has worked with a diverse group of clients, including members of the refugee and transgender populations, and in a variety of settings. He has likewise served as a peer supervisor for fellow graduate students learning Emotion-Focused Therapy. Chris intends to eventually practice psychotherapy professionally, drawing predominantly from his extensive emotion-focused training.

Master’s-Level Students

Stephanie Nardone, B.A.Stephanie Nardone

Stephanie is currently in her first year of the Adult Clinical Psychology program. She recently completed her Honours thesis on the temporal relationship between emotional arousal and emotional processing, for which she was awarded a Certificate of Academic Excellence from the Canadian Psychological Association. In 2016 and 2017, she received the University of Windsor Board of Governors medal for outstanding academic achievement. Her goal is to pursue a career combining psychotherapy process research with clinical practice.
