Ontario Learn and Stay Grant

NOTE:  Students receiving an Ontario Learn and Stay Grant can expect Anticipated Aid to be indicated on their student account toward the end of August as the details regarding recipients has not yet been confirmed with the school.

What is the OSAP Learn and Stay Grant?

  • The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant provides funding for students studying in priority programs in priority communities in Ontario.
  • Requires you to learn and work in the region where you study.
  • Responds to labour market needs, including health care.
  • Helps communities get the workers they need for in-demand professions.

What programs at the University of Windsor are eligible for the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant?

  • Undergraduate
    1. UWindsor Collaborative 4-year Program
    2. St. Clair College Windsor/Chatham (Collaborative 4-Year program with St. Clair College
  • Graduate
    1. Master of Science in Nursing (MScN)
    2. Master of Nursing (MN)
    3. Master of Nursing (MN) Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner
  • Postgraduate Programs
    1. Graduate Diploma – Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner

What costs are covered by the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant funding?

  • Tuition
  • Compulsory Fees
  • Books
  • Other direct educational costs (for example, supplies, equipment)
    You can also apply for the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) to help pay for other expenses, such as living costs.

What are the eligibility and program requirements?

  • Successfully apply to and enrol in the first year of an eligible program in a priority community.
  • Be an Ontario resident who is a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person.
  • Commit to fulfilling a service agreement and working in the same region where you studied after you graduate.
  • Not be receiving funding from any of the following government programs:
    1. The BEGIN Initiative: Bridging Educational Grant in Nursing
    2. Better Jobs Ontario
    3. Skills Development Fund

How do you apply for the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant?

  • Visit the OSAP website.
  • Register for an OSAP account or log in with your existing OSAP credentials and submit an Ontario Learn and Stay Grant application.
  • Submit all required supporting documentation.

If you feel that you need to talk to someone about your situation, please take the following steps:

1) Try asking your question using https://ask.uwindsor.ca.  We have many knowledge base articles that might be able to assist you with your question.

2) Log on to https://ask.uwindsor.ca to submit a service request and a Student Awards or Financial Aid Representative will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.

3) Call our office during our phone service hours.  A Student Award or Financial Aid Representative may be able to resolve your issue over the phone.

4) If options 1) through 3) do not resolve your issue,  we will schedule you a virtual Teams meeting/appointment with a Student Awards or Financial Aid Specialist for a time that is mutually convenient.

 

UWinAward Profile/Application Support

Here is the schedule for our virtual drop-in sessions available for students who require assistance with their UWinAward Profile/Application for bursary and scholarship applications.

Important Notes:

  • We will attempt to return messages and service requests within 2 business days where possible.  In September, January & May however, our response time may be closer to 7-10 business days.

  • Please do not leave/send multiple messages/emails as this will delay our response time.
