SUPPORTING STUDENTS
We encourage staff and faculty to download the Supporting Students Resource, utilizing the QR code of key resources to refer students to support. For more severe and urgent concerns, you can consult with the Student Counselling Centre or submit a Care Alert to notify the University of Windsor Assessment and Care Team who will follow up with the student to develop a personal care plan.

If you believe that a student’s behaviour is an imminent threat to self or others, dial 911 or call Special Constable Service at 519-253-3000 ext. 4444 immediately.
Clinical Consultations
Therapists welcome calls from anyone concerned about a student, whether or not the student is a client at SCC. If you are concerned about a student, please call the Student Counselling Centre (ex. 4616) and ask to speak to a therapist. While a therapist is ethically and legally unable to discuss the specifics of a client's case without a signed release of information form, therapists at the Student Counselling Centre may be able to offer some general information and guidelines that would typically apply in situations which are similar to those of the student in question.
Outreach and Presentations
As we are able, counselling staff is happy to make presentations about our service or to present on topics of a psychological nature such as stress management, depression, and healthy relationships. Several of our clinicians are trained in QPR, a suicide prevention workshop, which we are happy to offer to the campus community or to anyone off-campus who is interested as well. Please contact our office for more information or to arrange a presentation.
The Wellness Team also offers a collection of presentations and resources that can be embedded into programming and classes. Follow the links below to access materials or email wellness@uwindsor.ca to schedule a workshop.
The START HERE: Campus & Community Well-Being Resources Guide provides a list of key campus and community mental health and wellness resources that can be distributed to students/faculty/staff or shared electronically through classroom platforms such as BrightSpace. These Wellness Resource slides provide information on key mental health and wellness supports. Instructors are invited to present these slides in class at beginning of the semester and as a refresher during midterms and finals. The Wellness Team offers several presentations available by request, including:

- Student Mental Health & Well-Being Supports (15 min)

Presentations can be delivered by Wellness staff as a part of orientations, trainings, events, or in-class. To schedule a presentation, please email wellness@uwindsor.ca. Please provide two weeks' notice for scheduling during the academic year and at least one month's notice for September presentations.
Instructors are encouraged to integrate professionally-developed, evidence-based mental health literacy video modules into courses through a program called Therapy Assistance Online (TAO) at no cost. Examples of topics include:
- Psychoeducation and coping strategies
- Mindfulness
- Imposterism
- Perfectionism
- Communication skills
- Time management and goal setting
