Keynote Speaker
Dr. Robert Gordon is the seventh President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Windsor. He previously served as Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and Vice-President, Research, at Wilfrid Laurier University and as Dean of the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph.
A leading authority on environmental issues and agricultural engineering, he held a Canada Research Chair in Environmental Resource Management and headed the environmental management section of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture.
Throughout his leadership roles, Gordon has maintained a strong research profile, publishing more than 160 refereed journal articles and supervising dozens of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.
He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from McGill University and a Ph.D. in Land Resource Science from the University of Guelph.
Jessica Glazewksi is the Sexual Violence Educational Assistant at the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Resistance and Support. Her role includes providing educational presentations and workshops about consent, sexual violence, and responding to disclosures; campus-wide outreach and event planning; and communications for the Office and the Bystander Initiative. Jessica is also a facilitator for the Flip the Script with EAAA™ program.
Jessica completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Criminology and her Master's in Social Work at the University of Windsor. She has prior experience as a Workshop Facilitator, Teaching Assistant, and Campus Outreach Assistant with the Bystander Initiative. She also was a Research Assistant for the Girls Resist Project with the University of Windsor's Psychology Department.
Laila Albalkhi is a senior computer science student completing her specialization in Software Engineering. She is an Outstanding Scholar and the President of the Computer Science Society. She served as the Senate Student Caucus Co-Chair, a UWSA Senator, and the Lead of the Google Developer Student Club. She works as a teaching and research assistant at the University of Windsor and has worked on projects exploring patterns in palliative care patients and female technology adoption. Laila continuously strives to bridge gaps in her communities using technology, connecting others to opportunities so they can thrive in environments dedicated to their success.
Roger Reka is the electronic resources librarian at the Leddy Library. His is responsible for developing, analyzing and maintaining journals, ebooks, and databases. His area of professional and research focus centres on data-driven approaches to collections analysis, and knowledge syntheses.
Pascal Calarco serves as a Systems Librarian and Scholarly Communications Librarian with a few liaison librarian responsibilities. Pascal holds an MLIS from McGill University and is working on a Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Windsor. Pascal previously served as University Librarian at Windsor from 2016-2021 and served in various roles at research libraries in the United States and Canada since 1995.
Outstanding Scholars 2nd Year Students - Over 50 students from the Outstanding Scholars will present the conference theme of "Leadership on the Commons". They will be presenting a contextualized summary of the book Reimagining Leadership on the Commons: Shifting the paradigm for a more ethical, equitable and just world. Several small groups will present a series of short four-minute poster projects that explore 19 global-local examples of leadership on the commons.
Dr. Tim Brunet completed a PhD at the University of Toronto where he studied Higher Education systems in Anglophone countries around the world. As the Coordinator, Outstanding Scholars and Student Leadership, he leads the coordination of experiential learning for high-achieving students who complete research projects in all faculties at the University of Windsor. As an instructor, he teaches professional communication courses in graduate and undergraduate programs across the University of Windsor campus. He has presented internationally on topics about Higher Education Anglophone Systems, the Human Development and Capability Approach, and Communication Technology. As the North American representative of the Human Development and Capability Association, he aims to promote higher education and business practices that centre on a human development approach.
