The primary goal of this two-year mixed-methods comparative study is to create a new formal partnership that develops new knowledge of academic engagement with higher-educational international students in Canada, France, Germany, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, and make recommendations for higher-educational instructors that are critical for strengthening international student engagement and success.
Secondary goals include investigating the complex interplay between university belonging, social interactions, teaching practices, and engagement in higher-educational academic environments among international students at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels. We seek to improve understanding of the factors that influence international student engagement in higher-educational academic environments and fill gaps in understanding and develop a theory to guide educators in the development of improved educational practices.
