Each year the Canadian Defence Lawyers recognize exceptional contributions made by a young member with the Richard B. Lindsay QC Exceptional Young Leader Award, an award named in honour of their past president. John Lea ‘07 is the 2018 recipient. We are proud to see Windsor Law alums claim this award for the fourth consecutive year.

Across the country, Windsor Law alums like Diana Miles ’88 and Dan Pinnington ‘91 are attaining prominence in leadership roles within the legal profession.
Miles was recently appointed CEO of the Law Society of Ontario by Treasurer and President, Paul Schabas.
She joined the Law Society in 2001 and has assumed multiple leadership roles within the organization before her appointment as CEO.

Windsor Law alumna, the Honourable Mary Jo Nolan ’81, was one of six individuals who received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during the University of Windsor’s 109th Convocation.

Leadership Windsor/Essex, a program of United Way/Centraide Windsor-Essex County, honoured 40 young local leaders for their efforts in leadership and community impact in March. Among the ranks is young alum, Myla Picco ’17, who is a lawyer at Greg Monforton and Partners in Windsor.

Windsor Law students know that staff and faculty at the law school are always here to help; even when that involves orchestrating an elaborate engagement proposal from across the country.
It was, therefore, no surprise that Career Services Coordinator, Anna DeCia Gualteri was delighted to help when Windsor Law alum and Vancouver based lawyer, Sameer Kamboj (‘14) reached out to her for help with his plans to propose to his law school sweetheart, Cynthia Lam (‘14).

Windsor Law alum, Bilal Khan ‘08, is recognized on an impressive list of individuals being honoured as Canada’s 2017 Top 40 Under 40 by Business News Network (BNN).
The award, established in 1995 by Caldwell Partners, recognizes young Canadian business leaders, innovators and visionaries for their outstanding achievements. Khan was selected among hundreds of candidates who were nominated for their achievements in business.

The National Bar Association (NBA) will celebrate the 2017 recipients of the Nation’s Best Advocates: 40 Lawyers Under 40 next month during the NBA’s 92nd Annual Convention.
Among recipients include Windsor Law alumnae, Mariam Moktar ’12 and Nailah Gordon-Decicieo ’12.
The prestigious award recognizes the nation’s top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 who “exemplify a broad range of high achievement in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership and overall legal and community involvement.”
