Graduate Student Counselling Services

The Office of Student Health, Counselling and Wellness Services provides medical services, counselling options, wellness programming and resources to support students in their university journey.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies features our own embedded (in-house) counsellor that graduate students may make confidential one-on-one appointments to help cope more effectively with both short-term and long-term difficult/stressful situations.

We exercise a variety of counselling approaches, including Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Mindfulness Resilience Training. We have the clinical expertise and the most up-to-date tools to point you toward high-level personal and academic achievement.  We will assess your situation and provide you with a personal counselling program that will work for you. Examples of topics that can be addressed include:

1. Solution Focused Single Session(s)

  • Sometimes you just need one session to get assistance with an area of difficulty in your life.

2. Crisis Management

3.  Conflict Resolution and Mediation

  • To respond to communication issues (e.g., difficulties in the supervisor/student relationship)

4.  Professional Development

  • Stress Management/Resilience Training, Sleep Care, Interpersonal Functioning

If you wish to book an appointment, please call the Student Counselling Centre 519-253-3000 Ext. 4616 or email scc@uwindsor.ca and inform reception that you would like to make an appointment with Dr. Brown in Graduate Studies.
