Promotion has Bozii customers looking up

Mark Lefebvre doesn’t have to worry about standing out in a crowd. He can stand above it.

The UWindsor drama grad (BFA 1988) is a founding member of the Stilt Guys. He strapped on the leg extenders yesterday to promote the Bozii outlet in the Toldo Health Education Centre.

Wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan “It’s what’s inside that counts,” Lefebvre walked around campus, distributing discount coupons for Bozii, which sells hot, stuffed pastries.

Marketplace promotion encouraging patrons to eat fresh

A special this week at the CAW Student Centre’s Marketplace food court will launch some submarines—patrons who purchase any 12-inch signature sandwich at the Subway outlet will receive a free fountain drink or Nestle brand water.

The promotion continues through September 30.

Changes in Marketplace aimed at serving residence students

The Marketplace food court in the CAW Student Centre has expanded its services to better meet the needs of residence students, says Dave McEwen, head of Food Services.

“We have introduced a number of changes, expanding our hours, our menus, and even our seating capacity,” McEwen says. “It’s all aimed at providing the best experience for our patrons.”

The cafeteria boasts an additional 90 seats and has extended its hours Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Subcontinental cuisine on the menu for Tuesday

The Marketplace food court in the CAW Student Centre will take on an Indian flavour Tuesday, celebrating the cuisine of South Asia.

The Homestyle station will offer dishes on the theme all day, including:

  • lunch entrees of baked samosa with mango coriander chutney, chicken keema with naan and basmati rice, chana and cauliflower masala, or vegetarian biryani;
  • dinner entrees of tandoori chicken, curry beef, pasta with chana dal, or butter chicken—all served with a choice of basmati rice or naan bread.

Supermarket tour to introduce international students to Canadian food shopping

Walking through a Canadian grocery store, there are healthy choices in every aisle—if you know how to find them, says Chris Wellington.

A registered dietitian at the Windsor Family Health Team and a sessional instructor in nursing, she has started a one-year contract as a nutritionist with Food Services, Student Health Services and Residence Services. She will conduct a tour of the Metro supermarket this Sunday, September 16. It is aimed at international students but everyone is welcome.

Campus services gear up for students’ return

Some campus services will offer extended hours during the start of the semester, while others resume normal operations.

The University Bookstore will meet the demand for textbooks and school supplies by operating weekends and evenings from September 1 to 16. During this period, the Bookstore will close for Labour Day and otherwise will operate:

The heat is on: ways to keep cool on campus

Just one week into July, this summer’s temperatures are already breaking records. Don’t despair; services across campus offer ways to beat the heat.

The health and safety office counsels employees to avoid heat-related illnesses by keeping hydrated, taking breaks out of the sun, and wearing light clothing and appropriate headgear.

The University Bookstore stocks products that can help, says marketing manager Martin Deck.
