Campus Real Estate & Development Planning

The University of Windsor is one of the largest landowners in Windsor/Essex, with more than 160 acres of land across each of the main campus, downtown Windsor and other sites in Essex County. These landholdings are a critical resource, and efficient use of this land will help contribute to the economic and environmental sustainability of both the University and the city of Windsor. 

The Office of the VPFO is responsible for the following real estate functions: 

  • Land use planning and land development 
  • Acquisition of new, and disposal of excess, University real estate assets
  • Lease negotiation and management, both on and off campus
  • Development and management of private partnerships
  • Analysis and appraisal of property and capital assets
  • Property management of University real estate
  • Management of easements, development permits and any other matters related to University real property
