Grant Yocom (he/him) holds an Honours BA in Philosophy (Windsor), an MA in Philosophy (Brock), and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities (Brock). He is an active member of several editorial collectives for scholarly journals in Philosophy and the Social Sciences and served as a member of the executive committee for Existential and Phenomenological Theory and Culture, an interdisciplinary society that meets yearly at Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities. Over the past twenty years, Grant has held teaching and teaching support positions for writing intensive courses in the Humanities and Social Sciences at six different campuses in Canada and the United States. He joined the Writing Support Desk staff in 2019.
Jason Horn (he/him) has a BA with Honours in English Language and Literature and History from the University of Windsor, where he also earned an MA in English Language and Literature while focusing on ecocriticism. An Academic Writing Advisor since 2013, he has offered extensive support to students from Education, Business, Nursing, Social Work, and Psychology and has developed a strong understanding of the expectations of each of these and other disciplines. He also has extensive experience helping international students address the unique language and writing challenges they encounter while studying in Canada.
Amilcar Nogueira (they/them) received a BA in Drama and English and a MA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Windsor. They are the co-founder of a local theatre company, Paper-Knife Theatre, and a small press, ZED Press.
Kathy Roy (she/her) has worked and volunteered at the Writing Support Desk since 2016. After retiring from a 35-year teaching career with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, she worked for five years as an advisor with the University of Windsor Faculty of Education. She received both of her degrees from the University of Windsor. She has also volunteered as a mentor for foreign-trained teachers in the former Teach in Ontario program.
