Abstract: 

The workshop on IoT Security Testing provides a concise overview of the security challenges associated with the growing number of IoT devices. Participants will learn about key security threats, testing methods, and tools used in the industry. The workshop includes discussions on current research, practical hands-on sessions, and insights into future directions in IoT security. By the end, attendees will be equipped to implement effective security measures in IoT systems.

 

Workshop Outline:

This workshop covers IoT security fundamentals, key terms, and the importance of security testing. It addresses the challenges and threats in IoT security, such as diverse ecosystems and scalability issues. Methods like penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and security audits will be discussed. The workshop includes a comparative analysis of case studies, highlighting research gaps and future directions.

 

Prerequisites:

  • Basic Understanding of IoT: Familiarity with IoT concepts, devices, and their network interactions.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of Cybersecurity: Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and common threats.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with networking concepts, protocols, and security testing tools.

 

Biography: 

Salma Aly, the founder of BlinkTech Solutions and a PhD student at the University of Windsor. Her research interests are Generative Ai, IoT testing, and cybersecurity. She received her M.Sc. in computer science from The American University in Cairo, Egypt in 2022. Her masters were focused on artificial intelligence (AI). Salma started working in the industry after she received her bachelor’s. She worked as an intelligent automation engineer, python developer and digital marketing data analyst.
