Individual Psychotherapy
Individual psychotherapy is appropriate for clients who need more than short-term crisis intervention, and want to work on personal issues in more depth. Such clients are typically seen once a week by clinical trainees under the supervision of registered psychologists. The duration of therapy can vary and will be provided at PSRC for up to two academic semesters (Fall/Winter).
Our centre provides service are training in using empirically supported treatments using the following approaches:
- cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT),
- psychodynamic/interpersonal Psychotherapy,
- emotion-focused therapy (EFT), or
- integrative psychotherapy.
Clients may be referred to the PSRC for outpatient psychotherapy relating to a variety of issues:
- depression
- anxiety
- interpersonal/relationship problems
- academic difficulties
- parenting concerns
- work difficulties
- family conflict
- grief
Group Psychotherapy
During the academic year, single-session and multi-session group therapy programs are offered for students on campus. Groups focus on various topics of interest to students – past topics for groups have included Depression and Mood Disorders, Living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Healthy Relationships, and Student Wellness Information Meetings (SWIM).
Fee Information
Individual psychotherapy and group therapy services are provided free of charge to University of Windsor students. All psychotherapy clients are charged a $10 fee for cancelled appointments if 24 hours notice is not given. If a client misses two appointments without explanation, it will be assumed that service is no longer required.
