Syed Saqib had his B. Sc in Mechanical Engineering from NED university of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan in 1989. Syed worked around 11 years in the production and design department in a Japanese automotive company named Hino Motors Ltd in Pakistan and got training on Toyota Production System (TPS) and continuous improvement in Tokyo, Japan, in 1996. He obtained his master’s degree in 2005 from University of Ottawa, Canada in engineering management and then pursued his PhD (2010-2016) in additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing technologies at University of Windsor, Canada.
His publications and research interest are in the area of different types of AM especially using laser cladding process, understanding of bead geometry and process parameters relationship and how the leverage be given to make it a hybrid manufacturing process using machining. He also worked on microstructure evaluations on different types of stainless-steel material used in laser cladding process. Currently, Syed is a sessional instructor in Mechanical Department at University of Windsor since 2016 and teaches CAD/CAM/CAE graduate courses.
