We will post periodically research updates. Research updates to date include:
- The research team hosted an information session regarding the International Student Learning Community Research Project on 7 December 2018.
- Miranda Pecoraro, a 3rd year Outstanding Scholar, joined the project as a research assistant.
- International Student Learning Community holds first meeting on 18 January 2019, which resulted in membership in the International Student Learning Community being finalized.
- The University of Northampton in the UK indicated interest in participating as a second site for our research study.
- International Student Learning Community met throughout the Winter 2019 semester. At its final meeting, it established the research topic, research questions, and research design.
- Renan Paulino, a MITACS intern from Brazil, joined the project as a research assistant in May 2019.
- Research ethics approval received from the University of Northampton in the UK in May 2019.
- We received research ethics approval from the University of Windsor in August 2019.
- International Student Learning Committee welcomed new members in September 2019.
- A survey was sent to University of Windsor international students asking if there is interest in participating in the research project (received 198 responses).
- Training was provided to International Student Learning Community members on best practices for serving as facilitators and note-takers in November 2019.
- Completed focus groups and individual interviews (February 2020).
