THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED IN LOVING MEMORY OF MARY CATHERINE SCHISLER 1932 - 2015
FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANIZATION OF PART-TIME UNIVERSITY STUDENTS 1991 – 1997
Mary will always be remembered as she was the Past President of OPUS representing and advocating on behalf of part-time and mature students. She wrote the History of OPUS for the period 1976 – 2007. In 2002, an award in the School of Dramatic Art was established in her name by OPUS, in recognition of her support for the Arts and Humanities having initiated the "Alumni Evening with University Players." In 2010, she was presented with the OPUS Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her leadership, advocacy and dedication to OPUS over two decades. Our sincere condolences to her family & friends and she will be greatly missed by so many people. Here is a poem that was written by her: “A life once lived, leaves love`s message behind, on silken pillows of memories, they linger on in hearts and minds, and rest among remembrances. Manifested in the spiritual in loving material acts and words, the life once lived lives again in a trial of sweet kindnesses. Left behind to be discovered a bouquet of thoughtful courtesies, soft echoes of encouraging smiles, the unearthing of kindly deeds. Dreams and wishes that comforted days and nights slipping away, patience in pain and expectation, courage in suffering come that way. A star bursts in the infinite night; it fades and leaves no trace, the lightness of a soul remains embedded in its resting place."
