Anti-Black Racism
Refers to ongoing discrimination, negative stereotyping, unequal treatment, injustice and dehumanization experienced by Black people. It is based on the colonial ideology that black people are at the bottom rung of an oppressive and socially constructed hierarchy. This ideology was then embedded in laws, political institutions and social and cultural systems that maintained people of Black-African descent in a state of permanent servitude. (Source: Canada.ca)
Anti-Black Racism Task Force
The Anti-Black Racism Task Force, established in Fall 2020, listened to the experiences of Black students, staff, and faculty with the goal of determining priorities for substantive change. Its report highlights key recommendations to address systemic anti-Black racism across the UWindsor campus.
The Implementation Oversight Team has worked to coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Task Force recommendations as well as ensuring that the institution meets its obligations under the Scarborough Charter.
