Creating a Culture of Safety

Strong leadership and commitment is essential in creating a culture of safety in health care organizations. To build a culture of safety everyone in the organization must focus on patient safety outcomes and take accountability and action for improvement.

This poster presentation will outline strategies utilized by leaders to demonstrate the need for patient safety to be its number one priority. An overview of various methods used to engage and communicate to leaders, physicians and staff will be provided. Patient safety improvement as the result of monitoring quality and actions participation will be displayed and include 50% improvement in AMI Pathway compliance, 90% hand washing compliance, and reduced Hospital Acquired Infections.
