Automobile Insurance Policy

The following is a summary of the University of Windsor's Automobile insurance policy and may not include all conditions and exclusions that apply.

What is covered?

  • Losses involving vehicles owned by and licensed in the name of the University of Windsor within the boundaries of Canada and the United States.
  • Losses involving long-term leased vehicles for which the University of Windsor is required to provide insurance under a written lease agreement.
  • Coverage includes third-party liability (bodily or property damage to others), collision and comprehensive (loss from peril other than collision e.g. theft of vehicle).
  • The deductible $1,000 per occurrence to be paid by the department experiencing the loss.

Any liability covered under the Workers' Compensation Act.

Who is covered? 

  • Only those drivers authorized by the University of Windsor and the Insurer while driving on University business.
  • Passengers are not typically permitted in University vehicles unless they are employees or others required to carry out the University business for which the vehicle is being used.
