Abstract:

​​Join us for "Power BI 101: Unlocking the Power of Data Visualization," a beginner-friendly workshop designed to introduce you to the world of Power BI. This session will cover the fundamental aspects of Power BI, including what the tool is, why it is essential for data analysis, and how it is used to transform raw data into insightful visualizations. We will explore its most common applications across various industries, demonstrating how Power BI helps organizations make data-driven decisions. Through comprehensive theoretical discussions and practical examples, participants will gain a solid understanding of Power BI’s capabilities and its role in modern data analysis. Whether you are new to data visualization or looking to enhance your analytical skills, this workshop provides the perfect foundation to start your journey with Power BI.

 

Workshop Outline:

​​By the end of this workshop, participants will understand what Power BI is, its key features, and its importance in data visualization and business intelligence. They will learn about data import, transformation, and visualization, and explore common applications across various industries. This workshop aims to provide a strong theoretical foundation for using Power BI in modern data analysis.

 

Prerequisites:

This workshop is designed for beginners, so no prior knowledge of Power BI is required. However, a basic understanding of data concepts and familiarity with Excel or similar spreadsheet software will be beneficial. Participants are encouraged to have Power BI Desktop installed on their computers to follow along with practical examples and demonstrations.

 

Biography:

Shivangi Singh has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering and is currently in the second semester of the Master's in Applied Computing program at the University of Windsor. She has worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Microsoft Pvt. Ltd. and Cisco, where she predominantly used Python, C#, .NET Framework, and JavaScript. Shivangi has explored various fields, including AI, machine learning, and data analytics. She is passionate about developing innovative solutions, such as AI-based navigation systems and medical image analysis for endometriosis detection. Shivangi is eager to share her knowledge and expertise with her peers.
