Most University of Windsor employees are members of one of the 8 bargaining units:
- UNIFOR 444 - Special Constable Service
- UNIFOR 2458 Part-time Office and Clerical Staff
- UNIFOR 2458 Full-time Office and Clerical Staff
- UNIFOR 2458 - Engineers
- CUPE 1001 - Full and Part-Time Food Services, Housekeeping and Grounds
- CUPE 1393 - Skilled Trades and Technical Staff
- CUPE 4580 – Graduate and Teaching Assistants
- Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA)
The University and bargaining agents (unions) negotiate collective agreements that govern members’ terms of employment. Labour relations are integral to furthering the University’s mission of empowering positive change through regionally and globally engaged inquiry, learning, scholarship, creative activity, and research.
Collective bargaining is a key aspect of labour relations at the University of Windsor. University administration respects the collective bargaining process and is committed to working collaboratively to reach negotiated agreements with the unions.
The collective bargaining process is conducted in accordance with the Ontario Labour Relations Act. The University approaches all negotiations with the objective of reaching an agreement that is mutually satisfactory, fiscally responsible, and capable of being ratified successfully.
