Since its inception in 1989, the Humanities Research Group (HRG) has influenced both our campus and the greater community.
The Humanities Research Group is an interdisciplinary council of faculty, students, staff, and community which sponsors humanities research and facilitates events where thinkers grapple with issues relating to the human condition.
In order to ensure the continual thought-provoking dialogue between the academic world and the community at large, HRG has established the Lois Smedick Humanities Research Group Endowment.
In a rich history of community involvement, Lois Smedick was an interim director of HRG and served as a representative and volunteer for a number of community organizations and boards including the Art Gallery of Windsor and its Foundation, BookFestWindsor, Windsor Endowment for the Arts, Friends of Women's Studies, the University of Windsor Board of Governors and the University's Review Committee on Employment Equity.
Financial contributions to the Lois Smedick Humanities Research Group Endowment will be used to fund such initiatives as student-organized interdisciplinary conferences for undergraduate students and creative partnerships with other organizations in our community.
As Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” It is in this spirit you are invited to cherish, get involved in and promote the Humanities Research Group by making a tax-deductible donation to the Lois Smedick Humanities Research Group Endowment.
You may give securely online with your debit or credit card through our online donation form or by visiting the Alumni Association website, or by mailing your cheque payable to the University of Windsor to:
