Convocation

For general and session-specific information about graduation and convocation, please consult the University's comprehensive Graduation & Convocation site.

Note that, regardless of whether or not they plan on attending a Convocation Ceremony, all students must formally apply to graduate by the designated date. When applying, students will indicate whether or not they plan on attending the ceremony. There is an $80 ceremony fee assessed for students who indicate that they want to attend after the date to apply has passed. The deadline for applications is four weeks prior to convocation. No applications are accepted after that date. For accurate deadlines for upcoming Convocation Ceremonies, please follow the above link.

Faculty, including Department Heads, will receive an email from the Convocation Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar approximately six weeks before their program’s ceremony. This email will include information about seating arrangements (i.e. on stage or off) and dress (robes) for faculty attending Convocation. Faculty are encouraged to make formal arrangements to attend, they are permitted to freely “walk in” and attend with the general public if they have not done so.

Specific questions can be addressed to the Convocation Coordinator, whose information can be found under Administrative Staff in the Office of the Registrar directory.

Volunteer at Convocation

University faculty and staff, including AAU Heads, are encouraged to lend their time to help facilitate our students' convocation experience. The Volunteer at Convocation initiative, a joint effort between the Department of Human Resources and the Registrar, greatly simplifies the process of registering to volunteer at the next Convocation Ceremony.

Note: This site is a living document, the goal of which is to improve, in some small way, the working lives of University of Windsor faculty. We are eager to collaborate with the campus community to better this service over time. If you can identify any knowledge gaps, missing resources, or outdated or erroneous information on this site, please contact Iva Gentcheva, Director, Office of the Provost and Faculty Recruitment, without hesitation.
