UWindsor teacher candidates have recognized top instructors in the Faculty of Education, issuing three Teaching Excellence Awards decided by a student vote.

In total, 186 ballots were cast, reports Education Society president Theriza Veloro, selecting a winner in each division:

• Primary-Junior, Catherine Vanner
• Junior-Intermediate, James Oloo
• Intermediate-Senior, Joelle Nagle

“Congratulations to all of these professors,” says Veloro. “We understand that another year of learning in a pandemic context was a huge challenge, so students voted for a professor that they found to demonstrate compassion for students, knowledge and wisdom in the profession, and diligence with teaching in a virtual context.”

She says the society is working towards a formal ceremony to honour the awardees.
