Communications & Engagement Committee Volunteer Role Description (Role ID: V9-2020)


Role Purpose

This position, in collaboration other committee members, is responsible for reviewing and approving funding request proposals submitted to the Communication and Engagement Committee.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review Communication and Engagement funding proposals submitted on-line prior to the meeting.
  • Attend and participate in Communication and Engagement meetings as scheduled, generally one meeting per month. Meetings are typically held from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
  • Together with other Committee members, assess the merit of the proposals based on a presentation by the individual or organization requesting funding or in the case where no presentation is requested on materials submitted.
  • Together with other Committee members, determine the level of funding to be granted or deny proposals deemed not consistent with the objectives.
  • Provide feedback on proposed budget and make recommendations for spending.
  • Support the professional staff within the Alumni Relations Office.
  • Represent the Alumni Association at events ie. present a sponsored award, act as a judge, present greetings on behalf of the Association etc.

Skills / Qualifications

Required skills / qualifications include:

  • An interest in increasing the visibility of the Alumni Association on campus and in the community
  • Knowledge or the Association’s goals and objectives
  • Preference given to graduates of the University of Windsor.

Time Commitment

  • The Communication and Engagement Committee meets generally monthly during the academic year (September - April) from noon to 1 pm. (Time subject to change)
  • Time to review proposals prior to the meeting approximately 1 hour per month. Amount of time may vary depending on the number and complexity of the proposals.

Working Conditions

  • Meetings are generally held on campus. Microsoft Teams video conference and phone-in options are available if members are unable to attend in person.
