Golf Tournament Committee Volunteer Role Description (Role ID: V2-2018)
Role Purpose
- This position is responsible for various tasks associated with the organization of the annual Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament, including but not limited to: securing sponsorships, raffle/auction prizes, golfers, and making tournament-related decisions in collaboration with other Golf Tournament Committee members and the Alumni Coordinator – Special Projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in monthly Golf Tournament Committee meetings during the planning period of January to August, annually.
- Secure sponsorships, raffle/auction prizes and identify prospects beneficial to the tournament.
- Assist with marketing and promoting the event.
- In collaboration with the committee, and Alumni Coordinator – Special Projects, make tournament-related decisions regarding golfer gift(s), day-of activities, on-course games and other items as required.
- Plan, and where required, execute logistics of the event.
- Participate in post-tournament feedback session(s) in an effort to identify areas of opportunity and potential improvement for future events and committees.
Skills / Qualifications
Required skills / qualifications include:
- Enthusiasm for planning a charitable event
- Previous event planning experience, specifically a golf tournament(s) considered an asset but not required
- Previous experience fundraising and soliciting sponsorships, raffle/auction prizes considered an asset but not required
Time Commitment
- Commitment time frame: January to August, annually
- Approximately 4 hours per month, may vary throughout the planning term
- Must be able to attend Golf Tournament Committee meetings which may include meetings scheduled during regular office hours – approximately 1 meeting per month, approximately 1-2 hours in length
Working Conditions
- May include weekday (during regular office hours), weekend or evening meetings
- Event takes place outdoors, requiring day-of tasks to be completed outside in varying weather conditions
