Abstract: The workshop on Generative AI introduces participants to the foundational concepts and practical applications of generative adversarial networks (GANs). Through lectures and hands-on projects, attendees will explore the architecture, functionality, and loss functions of GANs. The workshop aims to enhance understanding of how generative models create new data resembling training data and their role in various creative and industrial applications. By the end of the session, participants will have practical experience and theoretical knowledge to apply generative AI techniques in their own projects.

 

Workshop Outline: The workshop begins with an introduction to Generative AI, highlighting its ability to create new content from existing data. Participants will learn about GANs, including their architecture and how they function. The session will cover the roles of the generator and discriminator within GANs and explain key concepts such as the minimax and Wasserstein loss functions. A hands-on project will allow participants to apply these concepts practically.

 

Prerequisites:

  • Basic Understanding of AI: Familiarity with basic AI concepts and terminology.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of Machine Learning: Basic understanding of machine learning principles and models.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Python programming and basic neural network frameworks.
  • Software and Hardware Requirements: A laptop with Python and relevant libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch) installed.

 

Biography: Salma Aly is the founder of BlinkTech Solutions and a PhD student at the University of Windsor. Her research interests are Generative AI, IoT testing, and cybersecurity. She received her M.Sc. in computer science from The American University in Cairo, Egypt, in 2022. Her masters were focused on artificial intelligence (AI). Salma started working in the industry after she received her bachelor’s. She was an intelligent automation engineer, python developer and digital marketing data analyst.
