16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence

WINDSOR, Ont. — A conference establishing itself as a beacon of dialogue, education and actionable strategies in the fight against gender-based violence is scheduled to take place at the University of Windsor next month.

The inaugural #IAmSahraBulle Conference, a collaborative effort between the Sahra Bulle Foundation and the University of Windsor’s Office of the Vice-President of People, Equity and Inclusion will kick off in the CAW Student Centre's Alumni Auditorium and virtually on Dec. 1.

WINDSOR, Ont. — The University of Windsor officially launched its new and bold Employee Mental Health Strategy on Monday, recognizing the crucial role workplaces play in shaping mental health.

More than 100 people gathered in the University’s Alumni Auditorium to celebrate the launch and engage in conversation about the first strategy of its kind at the University.

Clinton Beckford, Vice President of People, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Windsor, emphasized the importance of people as the heart of the institution.

WINDSOR, Ont. — The University of Windsor has appointed Michael Akpata as the new superintendent of the Special Constable Service, effective Monday, Nov. 13.

Supt. Akpata, a 1989 political science graduate, brings an impressive background in policing, investigation and a deep commitment to public safety.

With 21 years of valuable experience at the Windsor Police Service and an additional 26 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces Primary Reserve, Sherri Lynne Menard said Akpata is well-equipped to take on this leadership role.

The game-day entrance of the University of Windsor’s Toldo Lancer Centre was renamed the City of Windsor Entrance today in recognition of municipal support for the athletics and recreation facility.

The sign was unveiled during a ceremony at the new, state-of-the-art centre. University students, staff and faculty, community members and members of Windsor City Council attended.

“It is an honour for our community to see the renaming of the University of Windsor’s Toldo Lancer Centre’s game-day entrance to the City of Windsor Entrance,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.
