November 24, 2014: Congratulations to Debbie Rickeard, who is a recipient of a 2014 SIM Citizenship Award! The SIM Citizenship Award pays tribute to Ontario simulationists who have made important contributions in the healthcare simulation field that exemplify the values of SIM-one. It also honours those who have made outstanding contributions in education, teaching, creative professional activities and other endeavours that are difficult to capture and recognize in the traditional sense. This prestigious award honours collaboration-oriented, hard-working professionals who regularly go beyond the expectations of their assigned roles and responsibilities, to promote simulation, making a difference for students and colleagues.
The 2014 SIM Award recipients will be celebrated at the 2014 Ontario Simulation Exposition (SIM Expo) on December 4 and 5 in Toronto.

October 23, 2014 - The "Academic All Canadian" breakfast was held on October 22, 2014 to honour U of W varsity athletes who maintain an 80% GPA or higher while competing in a varsity sport. Their selection as an Academic All Canadian is an outstanding achievement and a reflection of their commitment to combine athletics with academic excellence.
Congratulations to three of our nursing students who were recognized at this event: Leslie Strugnell (hockey, BScN year 4), Samantha Kellam (track & field, MN), and Alexandra Moore (track & field, BScN year 3).

September 17, 2014: Please read this important Nursing information regarding the Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) work stoppage on the morning of Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This important information provides further clarification to the message sent out from the Provost's office earlier today.
At this time, clinical placement shift schedules and labs that are cancelled cannot be re-scheduled, moved or extended to accommodate for tomorrow's work stoppage.
BScN Year 1:
Clinical Course 11-63-172, sections 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, and 20 will be cancelled for the morning only, and will resume at 1:00 p.m. 63-172 instructors may notify their students about where to meet at 1:00 p.m.

June 16, 2014 - Congratulations to Dean Linda Patrick, who, along with co-authors David Gregory, Christy Raymond-Seniuk and Tracey Stephen, have had their textbook titled "Fundamentals: Perspectives on the Art and Science of Canadian Nursing" published by Wolters Kluwer Health (2015 edition). Other UWindsor Nursing faculty who contributed to this textbook included Judy Bornais, Kathryn Edmunds, Michelle Freeman, Sarah Lopez, Amanda McEwen, Debbie Rickeard, Kathryn Rousseau, and Christine Wellington.

June 13, 2014 - Congratulations to third year BScN student Hannah Sweilem, a Patient Safety Champion, who has been accepted to attend the IHI Open School Student Quality Leadership Academy in Cambridge, MA. This is the 5th Annual Student Quality Leadership Academy, which is a free, two-day interdisciplinary program for students, residents, and graduate trainees designed to build leadership competencies within future health professionals. This is a competitive process and students are required to submit an application. Hannah's application received the following feedback: "Your enthusiasm and interest in leadership made you a stand-out candidate."
This is the second University of Windsor nursing student invited to attend this Academy. Padma Ravi, another Patient Safety Champion and current 3rd year BScN student, was accepted to attend in 2012, and has been invited to return this year and also attend the I-CAN conference that takes place prior to the Leadership Academy.
