March 21, 2017: Congratulations to the undergraduate nursing students who won the Golden Stethoscope Award at the Nursing Games! This year’s event was hosted this past weekend at Nipissing University. Listed below are the students who made up the winning team.

The Nursing Games is one of the most recognized university events for undergraduate nursing students in Canada. This fun-filled weekend includes the gathering of nursing students from around the country to compete in both academics & skill-testing, in addition to sports-related events. Various activities such as social nights and a formal dinner keep attendees busy while they are not competing. This weekend is focused on demonstrating pride and enthusiasm for both their school and future profession.

November 2, 2016 - Congratulations to 3rd year BScN student Janny Lau, who is the recipient of an ATHENA Scholarship. Please see the story on the Daily News. The ATHENA Scholarship Program was created in 1999 for full-time post-secondary students between the ages of 18 and 30 years old. As well as having excellent academic achievement, recipients must be interested in increasing leadership opportunities for women and enhancing the quality of life in our community. November 2, 2016 - Dr. Michelle Freeman, Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in Faculty of Nursing, has been chosen by the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) as a member of the Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science Faculty. This expert faculty will collaborate on developing ideas, solutions, and strategies to implement patient safety practices, strengthen teamwork, communications and leadership targeted at reducing patient harm. Dr. Freeman’s role will help advance evidence, and develop ideas, solutions, and strategies to support healthcare providers and organizations within the health sector and will advance patient safety across Canada.
