National Day was created during a residency at the Residency Eina Danz (R.E.D.) near Eina, Norway in June 2014. This piece features a collage of video shot on May 17 in Oslo, Norway’s national holiday. With a Max patch, the amplitude of the saxophone is mapped to the brightness of the video, and the individual pitches of the saxophone line are harmonized with different chords.
