Waters SYNAPT G2-Si TOF

Waters SYNAPT G2-Si Time-of-flight mass spectrometer

The Waters SYNAPT G2-Si Time-of-flight mass spectrometer (Tof MS) is a sophisticated high resolution mass spectrometer capable of a wide range of measurements.

Two inlet options are currently available for the University of Windsor SYNAPT, nanoElectrospray Ionization (nESI) and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization (MALDI). The nESI inlet is primarily interfaced with a nanoAcquity Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) which can be configured for either 1D or 2D separation.

For both inlet options measurements can be requested with positive and/or negative ionization in sensitivity, resolution, high resolution and/or enhanced resolution analyzer modes. Measurements using the SYNAPT can also include use of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) to determine ion drift times which provides an additional level of ion separation as well as the potential to investigate shape and structure. Support will be provided to users to determine the best measurement approach to investigate their sample(s).

The SYNAPT system is mandated for measurement of peptide and protein samples from University of Windsor research labs however external samples will be considered. Please contact the lab for further information.

The capabilities of this instrumentation extend beyond the scope of this website, further information about SYNAPT is available at the Waters website as is further information about the Acquity UPLC.
