Summer Residence

Summer housing is available to students who are registered for intersession/summer courses, placements (ex. coop, internships) or practicum or are registered in the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP). Preference will be given to current residents and those staying for the full summer.

Summer Residence will be in Cartier Hall for 2025 with the following: 

  • Space is limited 
  • Single- or double-bedrooms (limited availability) with shared bathrooms 
    • Note: rooms that are typically double are converted to singles for summer use however all furniture remains in the room 
  • Common kitchen facilities throughout Cartier available for use 
  • 1 mini fridge included in single bedroom, 2 provided for double rooms 
  • Students at different levels of their degrees will all be housed within Cartier Hall, please consider that before applying

Term and Move In Dates 

Review the information below for information about each term.

Term dates: May 4th to August 19 (or 24 hours after your last exam, whichever is sooner) 

Move in day: May 4, 2025, if you are arriving after this day, you must complete a Late Arrival Request

Students currently living in residence wishing to continue living in residence until May 4 are required to complete an extension request in addition to the Summer Residence Application. Additional charges apply to stay in residence in between terms and you will be required to move to your summer room assignment prior to May 4th move in day. 

Residence Fees:

  • Single Occupancy - $2650 + $20 programming fee 
  • Double Occupancy - $2140 + $20 programming fee

Includes: students taking summer courses all summer, Intersession ELIP, full summer coop, MITAC and any other registered academic activity for the full summer.

Term Dates: May 4 to June 22 (or 24 hours after you last exam, whichever is sooner) 

Move in day: May 4, if you are arriving after this day, you must complete a Late Arrival Request

Students currently living in residence wishing to continue living in residence until May 4 are required to complete an extension request in addition to the Summer Residence Application. Additional charges apply to stay in residence in between terms and you will be required to move to your summer room assignment prior to May 4th move in day. 

Residence Fees:  

  • Single - $1225 + $20 programming fee
  • Double - $ 980

Includes: students taking only intersession courses or other registered academic activities that occur only during intersession.

Term Dates: June 22 to August 19 (or 24 hours after your last exam, whichever is sooner) 

Move in day: June 22, 2025, if you are arriving after this day, you must complete a Late Arrival Request

Residence Fees:

  • Single - $1450 + $20 programming fee 
  • Double - $1160 + $20 programming fee

Includes: students taking courses or other registered academic activities only in summer semester, Summer ELIP 3 Fast Track.

Residence may be available for the following dates, though we do not guarantee availabilty.  Please note that you will be permitted to move in one day prior to the start of consolidation and will be required to move out by the end of day listed below for each term.

Year One: May 25 to June 8  

  • Residence Fees: $350 
  • Move In Date: May 25  

Year Two: May 8 to May 23  

  • Residence Fees: $350 
  • Move In Date: May 8 

Year Three: April 22 to May 6   

  • Residence Fees: $350 
  • Move In Date: April 22 

No early arrivals are permitted. Students currently living in residence wishing to continue living in residence until the beginning of their consolidation period are required to complete an extension request in addition to the Summer Residence Application. Additional charges apply to stay in residence in between terms and you will be required to move to your summer room assignment prior to your consolidation move in day.

Term Dates: July 1-August 1 

Move In Date: July 1, 2025 if you are arriving after this day, you must complete a Late Arrival Request.

Residence Fees: $750 

Tech Studies students will be placed in Alumni Hall. Each unit has a double bed, a kitchenette with an apartment sized fridge and sink. You are permitted to bring small appliances (ex. toaster, air fryer, coffee pot). There may not be access to a stove during your stay as the building will have some renovations occurring. We will confirm this information as soon as possible.

Before Starting the Application Process

  • Confirm your offer of admission. 
  • Extend your UWin Account. You will not be able to apply to residence until you have activated your UWin Account.
  • After extending your UWin Account you may need to wait 24 hours, or until the next day, to go back into the application. New UWinIDs are uploaded into the university system in the early morning.
