Residence Move-Out

 

A Message from the Housing and Residence Life Team:

Thank you for being a part of our residence community!  Now that you are leaving, we hope we can make your move-out a smooth and easy process!

If you are withdrawing and moving out prior to the end of your contract, please review our Cancellation/Withdrawal information and contact resservices@uwindsor.ca if you have any questions or concerns. 

If you need a few extra days to move-out at the end of the term, you must submit an Extension Request Form for approval (the Extension Form is available at end of term; prior to exams).

Checking Out!

When checking out…

  • Follow the instructions on the signage in your building lobby area to complete the ‘self-checkout’ process
  • Place your keys in an Express Check Out Envelope when you have completed the self-check out process and place it in the designated mail slot
  • These envelopes can be found by the lobby of your Residence building in the black mailbox by the student mailboxes
  • Note: Charges will apply for improper/no self-checkout ($125) and/or if you do not return your keys ($125 + $10 per key)
  • Please limit the number of people who come to help you move out to ensure those still completing exams are not disturbed

  • If you have a roommate/suitemate, please ensure they are aware of when you have people in your room

  • Clean and tidy your room
  • Empty the garbage and recycling
  • Empty and clear your fridge (do not unplug the fridge)
  • Remove tape from ceiling, walls, and doors
  • Return furniture to original position
  • Close your windows and lock your door
  • When ready to leave room for final time, take room condition photo to include with your self-checkout
  • Be sure to provide change of address information for all mail
  • Housing and Residence Life will not forward mail to you
  • Mail received after move-out will be returned to sender
