The Organization of Part-time University Students (OPUS) is comprised of volunteer part-time students who advocate on behalf of part-time students, OPUS was established in 1969 to provide a means for part-time students to have their voices heard on campus.
Any student enrolled at the University of Windsor is entitled to become an OPUS Volunteer. OPUS Volunteers are a unique group of students who help with various OPUS social events including Orientation for New Students, Annual Welcome BBQ, Volunteer Social Gatherings, Pot Luck Lunch, Annual General Meeting and more. There are opportunities for OPUS volunteers to also become a part of various campaigns and university committees on campus. OPUS is looking for volunteers who are highly motivated, energetic and devoted to gaining a greater university experience for themselves and other students. During this process, volunteers gain valuable experience and network with various university officials.
OPUS hosts gatherings during the academic year and the OPUS volunteers are encouraged to attend in an effort to bring together the part-time student body on campus. The meetings give students the opportunity to meet other students and possibly gain some new friends on campus as well. The meeting introduces the volunteers to OPUS Staff and Board Members who advocate on behalf of the part-time student body.
For the Fall & Winter semesters, we meet in October and February.
At these meetings, you will have the opportunity to meet other part-time students and discuss concerns, ask questions and offer suggestions regarding course offerings, awards, graduation, student evaluations, exams, career counselling and student life in general. OPUS represents part-time students on numerous committees, including the Board of Governors, and the Senate where many decisions are made that affect you. OPUS strives to improve your time spent on campus, by keeping you informed of happenings at the committee level.
All University of Windsor students or Alumni who possess leadership skills and wish to support OPUS are welcome to participate in OPUS activities and events.
Volunteers that help during our events preferably for a semester will have an opportunity for an incentive and reference letter.OPUS has always been fortunate enough to have top-quality volunteers!
