University Wind Ensemble Spring Concert
University Wind Ensemble
Mike Seguin, director
On Saturday, April 1, the University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Mike Seguin, will perform their year-end concert at the Capitol Theatre. The program features selections by famous band composers like Alfred Reed and Robert W. Smith, but also favourites like The Cowboys by movie composer John Williams.
World renowned composer Alfred Reed’s “The Hounds Of Spring” was commissioned by local music director Gerry Brown of the Windsor Forster High School Band where the premiere of the composition was conducted here in Windsor, Ontario in 1980 by the composer at the Cleary Auditorium. The work has gone on to international acclaim and is found on the syllabus in many high level international competitions. As a tribute, music director Gerry Brown will be with us to conduct the finale of the work!
