PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The position provides administrative support for the entry and reconciliation of medical insurance claims, accounts receivables and payables generated in Student Health.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Reconcile medical insurance claims generated by physicians for Canadian and International patients.
- Keep current regarding medical office billing and record keeping rules and regulations by regular review of periodicals, attending conferences and phone inquiries and maintain billing procedures manual.
- Assist and advise community based medical facilities related to international student health plan.
- Respond to phone inquiries regarding medical office billing.
- Administer all departmental receivables and student account charges.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports of accounts receivables to Finance department and student account charges to Cashiers.
- Reconcile via UWinsite Financial reports of all the department’s accounts receivables.
- Administer all departmental credit, cheques, student account charges/transactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Medical Office Administration and experience as it relates to the duties of the position
- Ability to act with the highest professional standards, particularly within a fast pace with frequent interruptions.
- Knowledge of medical billings, general bookkeeping and experience using UWinsite Student and UWinsite Finance or compatible system
- Previous experience compiling statistics for reporting purposes
- Excellent interpersonal skills, specifically with respect to interacting with a diverse student population
- Excellent organization, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent communication skills – oral and written
- Effective organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information, including the ability to use discretion, tact, and diplomacy in all matters
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as part of a team environment
- Extensive experience using an Electronic Medical Records program
- Excellent computer skills including a proficiency with respect to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, TEAMS)
THE FOLLOWING TESTS WILL BE ADMINISTERED:
MS Word (Basic); MS Excel (Basic); Typing (30 NWPM)
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 3:30 pm
(Up to a maximum of 24 hrs per week – work schedule may vary)
