PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager, Student Success & Career Services, the incumbent is responsible for offering innovative and dynamic career services to students at the Odette School of Business (OSB) through the application of student and career development theory.  The Coordinator acts as the first point of contact for career advising information and will strive to develop lasting relationships with business students, faculty members, hiring companies and professional partners, as well as with Odette alumni and staff.  The incumbent will also be accountable for reporting on post-graduation employment rates, job posting statistics and graduate satisfaction.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have:

  • University degree within Business, Psychology, or Human Resources
  • Demonstrable experience in the administration, delivery and interpretation of business career-related diagnostic instruments, psychometric assessments, personality, and interest inventories, including but not limited to: MBTI Career Report, Strong Interest Inventory, CareerLeader, Strengthsfinder, etc., or requires B-level qualifications/certification/licensing in career/psychometric assessment
  • Demonstrated career advising experience (1-2 years)
  • Demonstrated industry or field experience (2-3 years) in recruiting, hiring and/or job placement (or related field).  Demonstrated work experience in the fields of career counseling, employment advising, or human resources
  • Applied knowledge of employment strategies, labour market trends and internet/hands-on job search resources and tools, knowledge of graduate and undergraduate degrees, minors, certifications, and concentrations offered at OSB
  • Demonstrated experience advising on professional designations applicable to business degree programs (CPA, CFA, CHRP,etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with the application of career development and student development theory
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve positive outcomes by encouraging, supporting, coaching, and mentoring others with the ability to share information in an effective and collaborative manner
  • Technical skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, internet, and database software packages including but not limited to mySuccess and Qualtrics
  • Available and willing to work a flexible schedule including nights and/or on weekends (as required)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (as required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the delivery of career services to career-transition, mature, or workforce re-entry professionals

HOURS OF WORK:                    

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm


 

Rate of Pay: 
Classification "VI" per Schedule A of the Collective Agreement
