Please join us for an event in recognition of the upcoming National Indigenous Persons Day, at Art Windsor Essex on Friday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The occasion will provide an opportunity to honour and reflect on our rich, diverse, and resilient local Indigenous culture.

Guests will have the opportunity to take part in two guided tours of Indigenous exhibitions and participate in a studio activity related to the exhibitions led by an instructor. An Indigenous-inspired lunch with traditional food will be prepared by Native Wonders Gourmet Grub.

Exhibition Information:

Nii Ndahlohke / I Work, a collection of new commissions and existing works by First Nations artists. It delves into the forced labour endured by students at Mount Elgin Industrial School (1851-1946), which is the closest residential school to Windsor.

Waawiiatanong Forever, a photography and postcard exhibition showcasing and honouring the depiction of women, two-spirit people, and their families within our local community. The community members were able to express themselves as they wanted to be represented near meaningful locations.

Please RSVP by Thursday, June 13, as space is limited.
