Some members of UWindsor faculty and staff are extra-happy to have contributed to the 2012 campus campaign for United Way after winning prizes in a draw reserved for employee donors.

It might be the “bad guy” when it comes to the role it plays in preventing the breakdown of blood clots, but a protein called TAFI might be just the fix scientists are looking for to prevent the spread of cancer cells.
During an event yesterday to announce new seed funding for UWindsor cancer researchers, biochemistry professor Michael Boffa quipped that he usually has good ideas “coming out of his ears.”
“The problem is getting these ideas off the ground and finding the funding to make them happen,” he said.
