UWindsor students living on campus excel in many ways, including in their academic pursuits, the head of the Residence Services department told a reception earlier this month.
It has been a challenge to maintain an A average in the first year of her nursing studies while representing Alumni Hall on the Windsor Inter-Residence Council, says Angela Li, but it has been worth it.
“Some of my most rewarding experiences thus far have resulted,” she said, as one of the students whose accomplishments were celebrated during a reception held last week by the residence services department.
A team from the UWindsor student affairs office gave a new meaning to serving students this week—cooking and serving dinner to 80 hungry patrons at Assumption University on Monday.
Brooke White, executive director of student affairs; Mike Houston, director of international affairs; Diane Rawlings, head of residence services; Karen Benzinger, acting director of the Educational Development Centre; and transition services intern Laura Prada prepared a typically Canadian dinner of meat loaf, mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, salad, rolls and a dessert of cake.
Sapphire Wood knows the value of student engagement.
In addition to working as a resident assistant in Electa Hall, the fourth-year women’s studies major belongs to the Outstanding Scholars program, serves as teaching assistant, and participates in the alumni phonathon.
“Being involved in so many things on campus keeps me interested and motivated in my studies,” said Wood.
