passengers boarding busFaculty and staff qualify for savings of 15 per cent on a Transit Windsor bus pass.

Subsidized transit rate to benefit UWindsor employees

University of Windsor faculty and staff members are eligible for the ValuPass program, which offers discounted passes from the municipal bus service Transit Windsor.

The monthly passes are available for $97, a 15 percent savings on the regular price of $115. Riders are encouraged to participate in the program for a minimum of six consecutive months.

To participate, follow three simple steps:

  1. Complete the UWindsor Employee signup form and send to sustainability@uwindsor.ca to join the program.
  1. Visit the Windsor International Transit Terminal (check hours of operation). Present documentation at the counter to confirm proof of employment with UWindsor, for example, a UWinID, and mention you are part of the ValuPass program. Transit Smart Card photo identification must be taken at the terminal, with a first-time cost of $1.10.
  1. Purchase your monthly transit pass and enjoy a 15 per cent discount — and your travels.

“We’re thrilled to re-introduce the ValuPass program to our faculty and staff, offering an exciting avenue for a more sustainable commute,” says sustainability officer Nadia Harduar.

She points to the recently released Sustainability Framework and its call for “supporting active transportation systems” as a way to meet the strategic objective of reducing the institution’s environmental footprint.
