Nursing students to lead course in Canadian Grocery Shopping 101 on Friday

International students will get a taste of Canadian culture and food Friday during a grocery store tasting tour with faculty member and registered dietitian Chris Wellington.

Students will meet at the International Student Centre at 1 p.m. to walk to the St. Denis Centre for a tour by Campus Recreation staff, followed by a free return bus ride to the grocery store sponsored by the Real Canadian Superstore. Participants will be treated to free samples and will have a chance to ask questions about various multicultural foods available in Canada and how they are prepared and eaten.

The event is sponsored by Faculty of Nursing students Samrinder Sahota and Natalie Stevenson as part of a preceptor initiative supervised by International Student Centre advisor Enrique Chacon. The students say the visit is intended to provide a comfortable and welcoming opportunity for international students to familiarize themselves with resources available at the St. Denis Centre, as well as experience the intricacies of North American grocery shopping among friends.
