Customizing software for international offices of higher education institutions helped the University of Windsor to streamline its efforts to recruit students and was the subject of a presentation at a conference for users.

Deena Wang, acting director of international recruitment and admissions, and business student Ian Trepanier, systems and technology assistant in the Office of Enrolment Management, discussed their work on the MoveON platform in Dublin on June 29.

The team used the MoveON database to house information about educational agents, a new application for the software.

“By leveraging the platform’s extensive capabilities and customization options, we have made significant strides in improving our international recruitment processes and strengthening our strategic partnerships,” Wang says. “Our goal was to share our experiences and provide other institutions with innovative ideas to optimize their international recruitment efforts using MoveON.”

She points out that extending the software saved money by making an additional purchase unnecessary.

“It was one-of-a-kind usage of the system and the MoveON staff were very impressed with what have done,” says Wang. “We have utilized it to its potential.”

Their presentation, “Expanding the Horizon: Importing and Managing Educational Agent or Consultant data into MoveON,” drew positive comment from attendees as well as the company’s senior project manager, Megan Fulmes.

Trepanier calls “thrilling” the opportunity to showcase their successful adaptation of platform at the MoveON conference.

“We pushed the boundaries of the software and showcased our solution on behalf of UWindsor to institutions at an international level, allowing them to do something similar in their MoveON instance,” he says.
