What does a year in the life of the University of Windsor look like? Photographer Richard Bain is hoping students, faculty and staff will tell him.
Since last fall, he has been taking pictures of campus life for a book to be published by Binea Press. It will be Bain’s sixth project chronicling an Ontario institution of higher learning, following volumes on Western, McMaster, Guelph, Brock, and Fanshawe College.
He has been making trips to Windsor from his base in London, working to capture day-to-day life on campus as well as the major events like convocation.
“Now we’re in the home stretch and I am counting on people there to let me know what is important to them,” Bain says. “Because I’m not on campus all the time, I may miss a key event, and I want to be sure to capture those special moments.”
He invites anyone with a suggestion to e-mail him, giving as much lead time as possible, at binea@rogers.com.
The book will be available in advance of the University’s 50th anniversary in 2013, says chief communications officer Holly Ward, who is helping to coordinate its publication. It is slated for about 120 pages full of full-colour photography, hardcover bound, printed in Canada.
“We hope it will become a keepsake for alumni and stir their memories of their time here, as well as attract new students to our campus,” she says.
