Effect of diabetes on skeletal muscle subject of presentation

A lunchtime lecture will address the impact of diabetes mellitus on the health of skeletal muscle, Friday in the Human Kinetics Building.

Thomas Hawke, a professor in McMaster University’s department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, will present as part of the Faculty of Human Kinetics Distinguished Speakers Series. He currently teaches undergraduate courses in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, as well as anatomy for the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.

Current research projects in Dr Hawke’s lab span from basic mechanistic to clinical studies with the common goal of identifying pathological processes in skeletal muscle as well as potential therapeutic approaches to improve muscle function and quality of life.
