Internationalization of sport management focus of lunchtime lecture

A vice-president of the recently-established World Association for Sport Management will deliver a free public lecture entitled “Internationalizing the Academy: Experiences and Challenges of Sport Management Supervisors and Students,” Friday at noon in the Human Kinetics Building.

Karen Danylchuk, an associate professor in the School of Kinesiology at Western University, is also a former president of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and currently chairs the association’s International Relations Committee.

Her research interests include the development and growth of the sport management academic discipline, women’s representation and involvement in sport, management of intercollegiate athletics, and sponsorship fit and branding.

In addition to serving as a member of the Canadian Mission Staff for the World University Games (Universiade) in Sicily in 1997, Dr. Danylchuk has been a competitive athlete and has coached tennis, squash, and golf at the university level.

Her one-hour lecture will begin at noon November 22 in room 145, Human Kinetics Building.
