Wintersong to present placement experiences of music therapy students

Music therapy major Kristin Ward hopes to work in geriatrics and paediatrics and dreams of expanding her profession to her native Barbados. Her placement at Windsor Regional Hospital, working with a 14-year-old patient with cerebral palsy, has set her on that path.

Ward is one of four senior music therapy students who will discuss the experiences they gained in their fall semester field placements during “Wintersong,” Thursday, November 29, at 7 p.m. in Katzman Lounge, Vanier Hall.

The presentations include:

  • Emily de Bekker, “Go Gators Go,” on a practicum at Forest Glade Public School working with students with developmental disabilities;
  • Marlyse Bergrstra, “Music Therapy with Teens in the Mental Health Field,” on her work with teens in the mental health section of Windsor Regional Children’s Centre;
  • Vee Shin, “Unexpected Gifts,” on her experience at IRIS Residential Inns and Services working with adults with mental disabilities; and
  • Kristin Ward’s presentation, “The Music in Her Eyes,” on her time working with “Tammy” in the paediatric division of Windsor Regional Hospital.

The event is free and open to the public.
