Music therapy students to discuss practicum placements

Music therapy combines her two passions: music and helping others, says Alison Moraites. The fourth-year music therapy major will discuss her experiences working with children and expectant mothers at Windsor Regional Hospital as one of the presenters at Springsong, in Vanier Hall’s Katzman Lounge on Thursday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m.

In her presentation “It's not about the Milestones, It's about the Moments,” Christina Bell will discuss her practicum placements in geriatrics, in palliative care, and with high school students with developmental disabilities. She is currently completing her last placement at The Summit Centre for Preschool Children with Autism.

Jordan Sherman was placed at downtown Windsor’s mental health residence, Iris House, where his work with residents taught them about expression through song writing, and encouraged clients to participate in group and individual sessions. He will discuss his experiences with “Music and healing in mental health.”

The event is an opportunity to hear first-hand about the work of music therapists.
