A free public reception Saturday, April 28, will mark the closing of “The Truth Has Legs,” a thesis exhibition by Masters of Fine Arts candidate Talysha Bujold-Abu.
Her show, at SB Contemporary Art, explores assumptions about race and identity through an examination of blackness, as both label and state of being.
“I focus on mixed-race ideals within critical race theory,” she says. “I interrogate both implicit and explicit racism, acting as participant and witness to shifting interpretations of racial hierarchies.”
Saturday’s reception runs 1 to 3p.m. in the gallery, located at 1017 Church Street.
