Help shape the future of clean water at 'Growing Together' event

The UWindsor community is welcome to attend an interactive public event called Growing Together: An evening of Knowledge Sharing in Essex on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

The jointly hosted event brings UWindsor’s Healthy Headwaters Lab and Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) together to help shape a region’s new Clean Water-Green Spaces Grant.

“Our region of the Great Lakes basin is receiving unprecedented levels of support to advance freshwater restoration actions one farm field at a time,” says Catherine Febria, director of Healthy Headwaters Lab.

“Join us for a night of sharing and knowledge exchange as we shape ERCA's Clean Water-Green Spaces grant and Health Headwaters Lab to better serve our agricultural community.”

The evening will include updates on local research, monitoring and funding programs for local farmers, and new approaches to transform programs and collaborations with the agricultural community.

Guests will learn more about:

  • ERCA’s grant programs
  • Motivations and barriers to adopting best management practices on farm fields
  • Events that can be beneficial
  • New innovative ideas to reduce nutrients and improve water quality
  • Ideas for directing local research

“Most importantly, we want to hear people’s stories - successes and failures - so we can build a narrative together that is reflective of sustainable farming in Essex County and beyond,” says Dr. Febria.

All are welcome to attend this public event happening next week in Essex County.

Dinner is included in the event that runs from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Shaheen Community Room, Essex Centre Sports Complex.

Register to attend the free event. Please reach out to Dr. Catherine Febria by email cmfebria@uwindsor.ca for any questions.
